Fire safety in the residential sector

Fire safety in the residential sector

The number of fires in the private sector is steadily growing, people are dying in the fire, and sometimes an invisible enemy contributes to this - carbon monoxide poisoning. Everyone knows about the danger of carbon monoxide, but, despite this, they neglect elementary safety rules.

Most cases of poisoning occur under the influence of alcohol, when a person falls asleep with an unopened cigarette and, unfortunately, does not wake up. There is a considerable amount of poisoning from carbon monoxide — in a garage with the gates closed when the car engine is turned on, with improper operation of the furnace heating, during the smoldering and burning of the walls of combustible materials, etc. gorenje.

Here are some rules of fire safety in the operation of furnace heating.

Before the start of the heating season, furnaces, boilers, heat generating and heating installations, other heating devices and systems must be checked and repaired. Faulty stoves and other heating devices are not allowed to operate.

Stoves and other heating devices must have fire-fighting cuts (deviations) from combustible structures established by the norms, as well as a pre-heating sheet with a size of at least 0.5 x 0.7 m (on a wooden or other floor made of combustible materials) without burnouts and damage.

It is necessary to clean chimneys and furnaces from soot before the start, as well as during the entire heating season at least: once every three months for heating furnaces; once every two months for furnaces and hearths of continuous operation; once a month for kitchen stoves and other furnaces of continuous (long-term) furnace.

When operating the furnace heating is not allowed:

- to place fuel, other combustible substances and materials on the pre-heating sheet;

- use gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel and other LVZH and GZH for ignition of furnaces;

- to heat with coal, coke and gas furnaces not intended for these types of fuel;

- use firewood for the furnace, the length of which exceeds the size of the fuel tank;

- dry and stack firewood, clothing and other combustible items and materials on stoves;

- to fire furnaces during meetings and other mass events in the premises;

- use ventilation and gas ducts as chimneys;

- to re-heat the furnaces.

The heating of furnaces in buildings and structures (with the exception of residential buildings) should be stopped at least two hours before the end of work, and in hospitals and other facilities with a round-the-clock stay of people two hours before going to bed.

In children's institutions with a day stay of children, the furnace furnace ends no later than 1 hour before the arrival of children.

Ash and slag removed from the furnaces are watered and removed to a specially designated safe place for them.

In attics, all chimneys and walls in which smoke channels pass must be whitewashed.

Installation of metal furnaces that do not meet the requirements of fire safety, standards and specifications is not allowed.

When installing factory-made furnaces in dormitories, administrative, public and auxiliary buildings of enterprises, in residential buildings, it is necessary to follow the instructions (instructions) of manufacturers of these types of products, as well as the requirements of design standards for heating systems.
