Fishing from the ice is a bright sun, white snow and a great opportunity to breathe fresh spring air on the ice expanses, and charge your body with positive emotions. But still, no one can be completely immune from misfortune on the ice. In the spring, with an increase in temperature, the ice changes its structure, becomes brittle and loose. Such ice breaks through without a warning crackle.
Security measures:
- when going out on the ice, you must leave information about yourself to relatives or friends, and have a charged mobile phone with you;
- it is necessary to know well the reservoir chosen for fishing, in order to remember where the depth is not higher than the height of a person or where from a deep place you can quickly go to the shallows going to the shore;
- it is necessary to know about the conditions of formation and properties of ice in different periods, to distinguish the signs of dangerous ice, to know the precautions and constantly observe them;
- determine the route from the shore;
- carefully descend from the shore: the ice may not be tightly connected to the land; there may be cracks; there may be air under the ice;
- when moving in a group, try to keep a distance between the anglers at least 5-7 meters.
- do not make many holes near you, do not make holes on crossings (paths).);
- do not approach those places where there are frozen snags, algae, air bubbles in the ice;
- carry special claws – two sticks-handles with metal pins at the ends, connected by a cord. These spikes are more convenient to cling to the ice, which quickly gets wet and becomes more slippery.
- in bad weather or visibility, it is better to refrain from fishing.
The main attention should be paid to the prevention of cooling and hypothermia of the body, especially it is necessary to protect the legs, lower back, head, neck, and hands from the cold. An important element of winter fishing is a reliable and warm seat, a windproof device, a thermos with hot tea.
What to do if you fall through the ice:
- don't panic, try to drop heavy things;
- stay afloat, keep your head above water, call for help;
"turn back the way you came." There the ice has already withstood your weight;
- lean on the edge of the ice floe with your arms wide apart;
– if the current is strong-bend your legs;
- lean on the edge of the ice floe with your chest, try to pull yourself up and take turns pulling your feet out on the ice floe;
- after leaving the water on the ice, you can not get up and run, because you can fall again;
- you need to move to the shore by crawling or rolling.
How to help a person who has fallen through the ice:
- shout to the victim that you are going to help him, call 112;
- arm yourself with any long stick, plank, pole, or rope. You can tie together scarves, belts, or clothing.
- try to carefully, with your arms spread wide, crawl to the victim, if you are not alone, move one after the other;
- hand the victim a pole, board, throw a rope or scarf, or any other means at hand;
- carefully pull the victim out on the ice, and crawl out of the danger zone with him;
- take the victim to a warm (heated) room. Help him: you need to remove and wring out all the clothes, if possible, change into dry clothes and wrap them in polyethylene (there will be a greenhouse effect).
