June 23 is the Day of the Civil Servant in Kazakhstan. It was established due to the fact that back in 2003 the UN General Assembly defined June 23 as a civil servant, calling on the member states of the United Nations to establish such a day at home.
In December 2013, the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan N. Nazarbayev signed a decree on making additions to the list of professional holidays in the Republic. So, starting in June 2014, Kazakhstan began to celebrate the Civil Servants Day.
The role of public servants in the country is great. After all, they are a conductor of the state’s ongoing policy in all spheres of public life. Mostly, the work of public servants is aimed at meeting the needs of citizens within the legal space defined by the state in laws.
Today, Kazakhstan has the Law on Public Service, which regulates the principles of its formation and recruitment, functioning, rights and obligations of employees. The main priorities of the civil service in Kazakhstan are transparency, efficiency, focus on the needs of the population.
At the same time, work is being done to combat corruption in public service bodies, and disciplinary control has been strengthened. A civil servant's Code of Ethics has been drafted and is in force, which regulates the attitude of public service representatives to work and citizens' appeals. All these measures are aimed at increasing the credibility of the civil servant in the person of citizens.
