East Kazakhstan region includes rivers, lakes, swamps, ponds and reservoirs, ground water and glaciers. There are 222 hydraulic structures in the region. As part of the implementation of the tasks set by the Head of state on the safe operation of hydraulic structures in the region, after the tragic events of the devastating flood in s.Kyzylagash of Almaty region in 2010, in 2011, by the resolution of the regional akimat, the KGP "Shygys su koymalary" was created, the main task was to identify ownerless hydraulic structures in the region, take them into communal ownership, certification and subsequent transfer of structures to Republican ownership.
