The Center for Forecasting Criminal Threats and Public Security Risks of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Accounting of the Prosecutor General's Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan warns of increased activity by online fraudsters targeting individuals with financial scams using fake investment platforms, deepfake technologies, and fictitious services to recover previously lost investments.
While previously, attackers used phishing sites for Kazatomprom, today cybercriminals are creating fictitious investment platforms for second-tier banks and large construction companies. Using deepfake technologies, using images, videos, or voices of famous people, they promote these fraudulent platforms to steal people's money.
Funding services for victims of unscrupulous brokers are also being actively advertised on social media. In reality, this is a repeat scam targeting individuals who have lost money through investments. Be vigilant!
To protect your funds, we recommend:
- not clicking on suspicious links;
- Do not disclose personal or banking information to third parties;
- Verify information about investment offers distributed through social media, instant messaging apps, and advertisements, especially those promising high and guaranteed returns;
- If fraud is detected, immediately contact law enforcement agencies and inform the bank. Fraudsters exploit trust. Don't be fooled.
