The procedure for issuing primary driver's licenses has been changed in Kazakhstan.

The State Corporation "Government for Citizens" announces that applications for initial driver's licenses are now available through the "TsON" mobile app.

Citizens applying for a driver's license for the first time can now apply through the "TsON" mobile app. The app allows you to submit your application in just a few clicks, without having to visit a specialized office. All necessary information, including a medical certificate, a driving school completion certificate, and the absence of restrictions, is automatically verified thanks to the app's integration with government databases and information systems.

After submitting your application in the app, you must select a convenient time to take the theoretical and then practical exams. Please note that the state fee for obtaining a driver's license must be paid to a specialized TsON operator after successfully passing the exams. This approach ensures consistency and simplifies the document processing process.

The pilot project is being implemented under a joint order of the Ministry of Internal Affairs and the Ministry of Artificial Intelligence and Digital Development of the Republic of Kazakhstan. The document updated the driver's license issuance procedure and defined new approaches to processing them using digital technologies.

Currently, the service is available throughout Kazakhstan. The pilot project is scheduled to run until September 1, 2026, during which time its effectiveness, convenience, and popularity among citizens will be monitored. Based on the analysis, the permanent implementation of the updated driver's license issuance procedure will be considered.

The new driver's license application format makes the process of obtaining a license simpler, more convenient, and more accessible for first-time drivers.

As a reminder, in addition to submitting an application, the "TsON" app offers additional features for future drivers: users can sign up for theoretical and practical exams, as well as register for a test drive. The app also offers other useful services, including completing a vehicle purchase agreement, checking the vehicle's history, and accessing various electronic services in a convenient format.
