Spring has brought the long-awaited warmth and many open their windows, while hoping for mosquito nets as a means of protection from falling. This leads to accidents. Specialists of the Emergency Department of East Kazakhstan region conducted an analysis, in the period from 2022 to 2023, 4 cases of children falling out of windows were recorded in the region.
2 of them this year in the city of Ridder and the Altai region.
In a 5-storey residential building in the city of Ridder, left unattended by adults, the son of the landlady of the apartment, born in 2021, fell out of the window of the 3rd floor and was hospitalized. In the city of Altai, a boy, born in 2021, fell out of a second-floor window and was hospitalized in a medical facility. The incident occurred due to the lack of proper supervision of the child.
"Accidents indicate that in houses and apartments where children live, there must be protection on the windows. It is worth remembering that mosquito nets do not protect at all from falling out of the window. On the contrary, the mosquito net contributes to the tragedy, because the child feels safe behind it and relies on it," the Emergency Department of the East Kazakhstan Region noted.
The Emergency Department of East Kazakhstan reminds:
-Never leave children unattended
-In an apartment where there are children, windows should be equipped with special protective devices
-Lock the window handle so that the child cannot open it on his own
-Move all kinds of furniture away from the windows so that the child cannot climb on the windowsill
-Do not teach the child to stand on the windowsill and look at what is happening on the street from the window, he can repeat it in your absence
-Do not allow children to go out on the balcony without an adult
- Remember, a mosquito net will not save a child from falling.
The safety of children is only in your hands!
