ASTANA. KAZINFORM – A meeting of the Club of Young Voters at the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan was held today under the chairmanship of Nurlan Abdirov. The members of the Club together with the Chairman of the CEC discussed the issue of youth participation in the early presidential elections of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the correspondent of MIA "Kazinform" reports.
The head of the Kazakhstan Branch Professional Union of Small and Medium-sized Business Workers "YNTYMAQ", a deputy of the Pavlodar city Maslikhat, a member of the Club of Young Voters Gulzira Atabayeva noted that this is the second meeting of the Club, which was created on the initiative of the Central Election Commission.
"Previously, members of the Club of Young Voters were trained at the Academy of Public Administration under the President. With such a mission, we toured our regions and conducted similar training for young people in our regions. Basically, the work of the Young Voters Club is aimed at increasing the electoral activity and involvement of young people in the socio-political processes of our country, so that young people are well-versed in the legal understanding, make an informed choice, participate not only in the current snap elections, but also understand the mechanisms of the electoral process in the country," Gulzira Atabayeva said during the meeting.
According to her, since the previous presidential elections, young people have increased their electoral activity.
"They did not just cast their votes, they have already become participants in the electoral process itself, since primaries took place earlier, then party lists were formed for deputies of various levels. Young people have already increased their electoral activity there. Only 613 candidates were registered in our Pavlodar region during the primaries, 184 of them were young people under the age of 35. This suggests that young people are already actively involved in the electoral process. The mood and participation of young people can be traced in social networks. The campaign work of presidential candidates has started. Everyone went to a meeting with the population. You may notice that many of the trustees are young people. They are active in social networks, release videos. Many of the young people are confident in their conscious choice. They are familiar with the election platform of each candidate," Gulzira Atabayeva added.
