ASTANA. KAZINFORM – Members of the Central Election Commission will travel to all 20 regions of the country and check their readiness for elections. This was stated by the chairman of the CEC of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov, the correspondent of MIA "Kazinform" reports.
"The expert Council under the Central Election Commission has resumed its work. The first meeting will be held on November 10. Our goal is to discuss the report of the OSCE, which monitored the referendum. We will receive this report in the near future," Chairman of the CEC of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov said at a meeting with young voters.
The Speaker also informed that the OSCE Mission will send 30 of its long-term observers to monitor the presidential elections. After the elections, they will stay in the country for a while. 300 observers will arrive in the country a few days before the elections, who will closely monitor the elections in all regions of the country.
"From tomorrow, all members of the CEC of the Republic of Kazakhstan will tour all 20 regions of the country until November 13. Our goal is to see what kind of work is being done in the cities, to correct all the shortcomings, to fill in the gaps. If I'm not mistaken, there are 10 102 polling stations in the country. Some sections open, then stop working. If there are few voters in some locality, we close the polling station, if there are many voters, we open it. In accordance with the law, one polling station is intended for voting of 3 thousand voters," Nurlan Abdirov said.
According to him, 99% of all members of precinct election commissions, or more than 10 thousand people, work in other fields. They are involved in the work only during the elections. They keep their wages at their main job, while they receive additional funds for participating in elections as members of the commission.
"In general, 20.5 billion tenge has been allocated for holding early presidential elections. However, 80% of this amount is spent on salaries of members of precinct election commissions," Chairman of the CEC of Kazakhstan Nurlan Abdirov added.
