So the hot summer is over, the first frosts are not far off. And so that in winter you don't have to be left without a roof over your head, the Emergency Management Department of the city of Ridder advises you to pay attention to the stove, bring it to a fire-safe state and calmly face frosts.
Every year, before the heating season, civil protection officers, together with employees of the local police service, begin bypassing residential buildings where disadvantaged and low-income families live. During the rounds, the main attention is paid to the installation of stoves and chimneys, residents are given recommendations on how to eliminate them, and reminders are given.But very often our recommendations are ignored, people are negligent in observing fire safety rules in everyday life, for years they do not repair stoves, do not clean chimneys, do not pay attention to electrical wiring. As a result, dozens of burnt houses and buildings ... ..
According to statistics, from 80 to 110 fires occur in our city every year. But a fire is not the worst thing, a faulty stove can lead to the death of people poisoned by carbon monoxide. Even a minor crack in the chimney well can lead to tragedy.
To avoid a tragedy in your home, we strongly recommend that you prepare the stove for the heating season.
Remember:
- before the start of the heating season, you need to check the health of the stove and chimneys;
- inspection of the furnace should be systematic;
- it is necessary to store firewood and other combustible materials at a safe distance from the stove;
- in the evening, the furnace must be stopped 2 hours before bedtime;
- furniture, curtains and other combustible materials should be located at least 1 m from the heating stove;
- it is necessary to clean chimneys and stoves from soot before starting, as well as during the entire heating season at least once every three months.
When operating a stove heating, it is prohibited:
- to heat with fuel not intended for these types of stoves;
- use gasoline, kerosene, diesel fuel and other flammable and combustible liquids to ignite stoves;
- use firewood that exceeds the size of the furnace firebox;
- use ventilation as chimneys;
- use stoves without fire-prevention cutting (retreat).
