Not comforting statistics state that the number of deaths has increased in the city of Ridder.
Since the beginning of this year, 9 citizens have died, while in 2020 - 1 person. Of the total number of deaths, 6 people died as a result of fires. Any death is a tragedy, but death in a fire is terrible. And it is bitter to realize that often the person himself underestimates the danger and creates conditions for tragedy.
4 people were killed due to an unopened cigarette and, as a result, a fire in the house.
Careless handling of fire, including carelessness when smoking, is one of the most common causes of fires with the death of people.
Smoking in bed or sitting in an armchair, especially if alcohol is drunk, is dangerous – it is easy to fall asleep in this position. And if you do not put out a cigarette in time, clothes or furniture can catch fire from it.
Do not use paper bags, match boxes or cigarettes as an ashtray. The smoldering of newsprint or cardboard, not to mention plastic, is enough to cut off the path to evacuation and cause panic.
Unopened cigarettes thrown out of windows or balconies can also cause a fire.
Follow the fire safety rules, ensure the safety of yourself and your loved ones.
