Warning Avalanche danger!

Warning Avalanche danger!

On the territory of the city of Ridder, 6 places are subject to avalanche danger and sometimes snow avalanches descend on them. This is a very dangerous natural phenomenon. The most dangerous periods of avalanches are spring and summer from sunrise to sunset.

To avoid getting caught in an avalanche, follow the basic safety rules.

In no case do not go to the mountains in the snowfall or immediately after the snowfall.

Before going for a walk in the mountains, find out the weather forecast and get information about possible avalanche sites. Choose your route so as to avoid these unsafe areas. In any weather, avoid hollows, after a snowfall in such places you can only pass through 2-3 days. If you are in the mountains where an avalanche can occur, keep quiet: loud sounds can cause it to descend. If the avalanche started quite high, immediately move away from its possible path. You can hide in a recess or behind a mountain ledge.

In any case, don't hide behind the trees!

If you have witnessed an avalanche, immediately report the incident to the emergency service. Provide assistance to those who were inside the avalanche.
