How much do donors who donate blood for plasma get

Very often recently, questions have been received from East Kazakhstan residents about the amount of payments to blood donors. The East Kazakhstan regional blood center told about the rules, criteria and amounts of payments to donors who donate blood and its components.

On September 25, 2020, the order of the Minister of health of the Republic of Kazakhstan (no.KR DSM-111/2020) approved the rules, criteria and amount of payments to donors who donate blood and its components on a paid basis, as well as the amount of the monetary equivalent of free food to a donor who donated blood and (or) its components on a free basis. This document is a reprint of the order Sir RK No. 374 of may 22, 2015, repealed in connection with the release of the new Code of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On health of nation and healthcare system" (dated July 7, 2020). The legal act has not undergone significant changes, only the name of the document has been adjusted, the content of the rules and payments to donors has remained the same.

Blood donations continue to be made on a voluntary, free-of-charge basis. And if we talk about paid donation, then nothing has changed here, as before, it is carried out in those exceptional cases when there are no free donors or there is no opportunity to invite free donors to donate blood. When the presence of certain antigenic characteristics of blood is documented (universal blood group according to the ABO system, RH-negative affiliation or identity according to blood antigens with a potential recipient for whom blood components are prepared), in cases of emergency call of potential donors outside of school hours (night hours, weekends and holidays) in the absence of gratuitous donors, etc.paid donors are also invited. In all other cases, blood service organizations invite donors to donate blood and its components free of charge, and the amount of the monetary equivalent of free food to the donor who donated blood and (or) its components is 0.25 of the monthly calculation index established by law (695 tenge in 2020). The East Kazakhstan regional blood center provides 1000 tenge to all donors who donated blood or its components free of charge, taking into account additional financial incentives in accordance with the regional program for the development of free donation.

According to the recommendations of the world health organization (who), a voluntary donation is the "gold standard", and donors with financial or other interests are a potentially dangerous category in the theoretical sense. The risk of paid donation may be that the donor conceals their diseases, which, first of all, is fraught with serious consequences for the health of the donor himself, and may also harm the health of the patient to whom the donor's blood will be transfused.

Today, the task of the blood service of the East Kazakhstan region is to ensure the quality and availability of blood and its components, as well as to increase the number of free, voluntary, regular donors to 100 %.
