The main recommendations and safety measures in case of a risk of snow shedding from building roofs are:
-Do not approach buildings with sloping roofs where snow may slide off, and do not allow children to stay in such areas;
-Do not park vehicles near buildings where icicles or snow overhangs have formed;
-If there is a barrier marking a dangerous area, do not attempt to go past it, but instead take an alternate route to avoid the hazard;
-Do not walk down the street with headphones on, as you won’t be able to hear the noise of snow falling from the roof.
Important! If, while walking on the sidewalk, you hear suspicious noise from above, do not stop, look up, or try to see what happened. It could be snow shedding or a falling ice block. Do not run away from the building. Instead, quickly press yourself against the wall—the overhang of the roof will serve as shelter.
