One of the most common natural phenomena is floods caused by intense melting of snow (ice) or large amounts of precipitation, which is exactly what is typical for our area.
During the period of threat, it is necessary to closely monitor the messages of the hydro meteorological service and the information of the relevant emergency authorities transmitted through the media.
If your home falls within the boundaries of possible flooding, you must follow the following rules:
-clear snow from streets, courtyards, roofs, building bases, passages (driveways), entrances and exits, water pipes, storm drains in advance;
-In case of emergency evacuation, prepare a supply of the required amount of drinking water and food for three days, prepare appropriate clothing and footwear, a first aid kit, and basic necessities;
-keep documents, money, securities and things in constant readiness;
-carry out work in advance to protect your home or apartment: strengthening doors and windows, moving household items and valuables to the upper floors (attic, roof), removing agricultural equipment and livestock feed from the yard to a safe place;
-specify a safe place and route for evacuation. Prepare the necessary simple watercraft;
-evacuate pets and property to safe places in advance.
In the event of a sudden volley release and a sharp rise in water level, heavy wave flow:
- do not panic, act promptly and purposefully;
-close the windows and doors, turn off the water, gas, electricity, turn off the fire in the stove;
-take all measures to ensure the safety of pets, open doors, gates, tie them up;
-put on appropriate rubberized clothing, take documents, money, securities, a supply of drinking water, food, a first aid kit, essentials and promptly leave the building;
-try to leave the flooded area as quickly as possible; if this fails, then use available watercraft, move to a safe place, or go to the upper floors of the building or the roof of the house;
Do not eat flooded foods, drink only boiled water.
Parents and teachers!
Do not allow children to go to reservoirs without supervision, especially during ice drift; warn them about the danger of being on ice when reservoirs are opened, or being on steep or washed-out banks - they may collapse.
