Kazakhstan strengthens security measures on border with China due to coronavirus threat

As of today, 4,515 confirmed cases of new coronavirus pneumonia have been recorded in 30 provinces in China, 106 of them fatal.

According to the epidemiological investigation, most of the cases worked or were handlers and frequent visitors to the Huanan Wholesale Seafood, Animals, Poultry and Exotic Market located in Wuhan, Hubei Province.

Quarantine has been introduced in 15 cities of Hubei province, residents are prohibited from leaving the city, the entry and exit of flights, buses and trains has been suspended.

In the world, 60 confirmed cases of a new type of coronavirus have been registered in 15 countries (Hong Kong - 8 cases, Thailand - 8, Macau - 7, USA - 5, Taiwan - 4, Australia - 4, Singapore - 4, Malaysia - 4, France - 3 , Japan - 4, South Korea - 4, Vietnam - 2, Nepal - 1, Canada - 1, Germany - 1 case).

There remains a high risk of spreading the infection outside the PRC against the backdrop of a massive departure of tourists during the celebration of the Chinese New Year.

In this regard, Kazakhstan has strengthened sanitary control measures at airports and train stations, and measures are being taken to counter the introduction and spread of coronavirus into the country.

To date, measures are being taken in Kazakhstan at border checkpoints, at airports and train stations to counter the entry and spread of coronavirus: thermal imaging control of arriving international flights has been strengthened, mandatory contactless thermometry of all persons is carried out, preventive work has been organized with employees of airports, border and customs services , flight crews, conductors of passenger trains. At the airports, a reminder is issued for everyone traveling to the PRC.
