For taxi operators and passengers: compliance with taxi transport legislation

The Ministry of Transport of the Republic of Kazakhstan, together with relevant government bodies, is currently working to ensure compliance with legislation in the field of taxi transportation.

According to the Law of the Republic of Kazakhstan “On Automobile Transport”, to operate a taxi service, a person must be either an individual entrepreneur or a legal entity, and must submit a notification to the local executive authority about the start of taxi operations before beginning work.

Transportation using mobile taxi apps may only be carried out by official taxi operators who have submitted the above notification, or by a driver employed under a labor contract with an official taxi operator.

It is also prohibited in Kazakhstan to transport passengers in vehicles with foreign license plates or right-hand drive.

We remind everyone of the need to comply with these legal requirements. Violation of these rules carries legal responsibility.

Passenger safety and service quality are among the top priorities in the taxi industry. To ensure safety, passengers are advised to:

  1. Verify the car make and license plate number, as well as the driver’s photo, against the information in the taxi app before starting the ride.
  2. Cancel the ride in the app if the information does not match, and report it to customer support.
  3. Fasten your seatbelt at all times, even in the back seat.
  4. Report any incidents to customer support immediately (e.g., rude or inappropriate driver behavior, dirty car interior, aggressive or unsafe driving, traffic violations).

Hotlines for reporting issues: 101, +7 (7172) 75-16-32, 74-98-32, 2-14-78.

Passengers are also urged to inform law enforcement authorities promptly if they encounter violations of the above legal requirements.
