Hay Harvesting and Preparation of Rough Fodder

At present, hay harvesting and preparation of rough fodder are in full swing. The hot, dry, and windy weather during this period, combined with a large number of agricultural machinery and fuel and lubricants, creates a fire hazard.

The Emergency Situations Department of Kurchum District warns to observe the following rules to prevent fires and avoid the destruction of material assets.

  • Stacking of haystacks on household plots and residential areas must be done at a distance of at least 15 meters from buildings and outbuildings.

The following are prohibited:

  1. Stacking hay on the roofs of sheds and other agricultural structures;
  2. Stacking under power lines;
  3. Stacking closer than 3 meters from the external fence of the plot;
  4. Placing stacks, shocks, or ricks of hay, straw, or other types of rough fodder on streets, roads, or outside household plots.

Transportation of rough fodder must be carried out using specially equipped vehicles, with exhaust pipes routed under the radiator and fitted with spark arresters. Additionally, these vehicles must be equipped with two powder fire extinguishers.

The height of stacked rough fodder should not exceed 4 meters.
