The Club of Leaders of Religious Associations has been functioning in the East Kazakhstan region for several years, whose mission is to preserve spiritual harmony in society through open dialogue and discussions of topical issues of our time. An example of this is the Open Day on the basis of the Jewish community of East Kazakhstan region, which took place on April 6, 2022.
The head of the community, Rabbi Assaf Feinstein, told about the life and activities of Jews in the Ust-Kamenogorsk synagogue today. For 13 years, the synagogue "Oel Eliezer - Chabad Lubavitch" has been the center of Jewish life in East Kazakhstan.
As the head of State K.K. Tokayev noted in his message, the current generation of Kazakhstanis should cherish unity and harmony in society as the apple of their eye and realize the importance of harmonious interethnic and interfaith relations. As an example of such unity, representatives of all religious confessions of our region, Deputy head of the Department for Religious Affairs of the East Kazakhstan Region - Askar Isabayev, Chief imam of the SAMK for the Ust-Kamenogorsk region - Ermek Mukatai took part in this event.
The guests were interested in the impressive interiors of the synagogue itself. Materials from the Holy Land were used to decorate the interior of the synagogue - the wall near the cabinet where the Torah scrolls are kept is lined with the famous white-yellow Jerusalem stone and resembles a Wailing Wall. There is a prayer hall, a hall for celebrations, working offices, a dining room, a library and classrooms.
You can get acquainted with the national culture not only through religion. Traditional Jewish delicacies were prepared for the guests of the synagogue. According to the organizers, the open day is aimed at developing the values of spiritual freedom, independence, openness, tolerance for each other, mutual respect, complicity, friendship and love.
