On May 14, 2025, Secondary School No. 50 hosted a regional seminar on “Corruption prevention in educational organizations of East Kazakhstan region”, as part of the ongoing efforts to ensure law and order in the education sector, as well as to implement a comprehensive plan for promoting academic integrity among young people for 2025. The event was organized by Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region and East Kazakhstan Regional Department of the Anti-Corruption Agency, with the participation of educational organizations of East Kazakhstan region, including Ust-Kamenogorsk city.
With the end of the academic year getting closer, A. Ashikov emphasized the importance of banning illegal collection of funds and gifts from graduates.
“Our call center (1424) receives numerous complaints from parents about financial collections at schools, especially at the end of the academic year. While it’s become a cultural norm to express appreciation to teachers, headmasters and other workers for their hard work through gifts or cash, it’s important to remember that such practices violate the law. Collecting money for gifts is strictly prohibited. Graduates can express their gratitude by giving a traditional bouquet of flowers, supporting charitable projects, or planting a tree” A. Ashikov emphasized.
In turn, Deputy Head of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, A. Akhmadiyeva, spoke about ongoing anti-corruption projects implemented in educational organizations of the region, such as “Adal Urpak”, “Sanaly Urpak”, “Comprehensive Plan for academic integrity promotion among young people”, as well as “Anti-Corruption Volunteering”.

Karpova, Head of the Basic Framework Project No. 4 “Corruption Prevention” in East Kazakhstan region, introduced the 2025 Project Roadmap, and encouraged school leaders to carry out internal corruption risk analyses in educational organizations in line with approved schedules and legal requirements and cultivate an anti-corruption culture.
