Results of online workshop “Developing functional literacy in math classes while preparing for PISA”

On January 05, 2025, Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held an online workshop titled “Developing functional literacy in math classes while preparing for PISA”, in order to provide methodological assistance to teachers of mathematics.

The workshop addressed the issues of preparing school students for PISA and integrating new technologies into math classes.

The speakers of the workshop:

- G.M. Adelbayeva, a teacher of mathematics, a teacher-researcher of Secondary School No. 7 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city;

- A.K. Manakova, a teacher of mathematics, a teacher-expert of Secondary School No. 11 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city;

During the reflective session, the participants emphasized the practical value of the workshop in applying functional literacy in mathematics classes while preparing for PISA, and the high motivational impact of the materials presented by the speakers.

The event was attended by 84 teachers of mathematics from regional secondary schools.

Moderators of the workshop: G.M. Abysheva - head of Methodological Department for Natural Sciences and Mathematics of Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, and G.B. Bleimenova, a methodologist of the Department.
