Seminar for headmasters of Altai district

On December 5, 2024, a seminar for headmasters of Altai district titled “Features of organization, management and control of school activities for suicide prevention” took place as part the memorandum of cooperation between the Regional Center for Psychological Support and Assistance and Education Department of Altai district. The specialists of the Center - E.B. Gutova and A.A. Chelnokova – worked with headmasters and analyzed ways to enhance the effectiveness of preventive efforts aimed at preventing child and adolescent suicides.  

The seminar covered the essentials of suicide prevention, especially what exactly it should be aimed at, pinpointing target groups in the educational process, and how to structure this work within a system and as a whole.    

They were introduced to a unified algorithm for identifying minors showing signs of suicidal behavior and further work with them, as well as an algorithm of action for state agencies to assist children who have attempted suicide, which was approved by Joint Order of the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Healthcare No. 170 dated July 4, 2024. They defined the role and responsibilities within the education system, along with leadership and mechanisms for monitoring activities in this area.  

The second part of the seminar was organized as a practical work with case studies. By analyzing these cases, the participants of the seminar were able to identify risk and protective factors and how leverage them for effective prevention.

The headmasters noted the high significance of the seminar, as well as the importance and usefulness of the knowledge and skills acquired from practicing specialists.
