Building scienfic literacy in geography lessons

Örken East Kazakhstan Regional Scientific and Methodological Center for Informatization and Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, jointly with Beimbet A. Mukhtarkhanov a geography teacher, a teacher-expert of the NIS of Chemistry and Biology of Ust-Kamenogorsk city, held a webinar for teachers of geography of the region on building scienfic literacy in geography lessons.

The speaker provided a theoretical overview of scienfic literacy, its importance, assessment structure, knowledge, context and competences.

The webinar detailed requirements for tasks to assess scienfic literacy, including cognitive levels, and showcased examples of low-, medium- and high- level tasks, followed by a task analysis with teachers.
