In today’s world of technology and rapid advancements, where programming and engineering are becoming integral components of life, schoolchildren receive unique opportunities for development, and huge perspectives. One of such opportunities is participation in the international robotics and programming festival R:ED Fest, which was held on 27-28 October, 2024 at Al-Farabi Schoolchildren’s Palace of Astana city. This festival brought together young engineers from Kazakhstan, Russia, Uzbekistan and other countries to showcase their skills and exchange experiences.
The R:ED Fest festival is an important part of the Bolashak Inzhenerler (Future Engineers), that aims to develop engineering education among schoolchildren. Thanks to the support of Kazakhstan Khalkyna Public Foundation, Engineering Education Development Foundation and Arman Engineering Company, robotics classrooms have been established in 20 schools of our region, providing teachers with essential methodological support. This allows students to delve into the world of science from their early school years, starting the path towards real achievements.
At the republican round of the festival, which took place on October 27, 2024, schoolchildren from East Kazakhstan region demonstrated impressive results. The winners in the junior age category in Scratch programming competence were announced, where Ilya Grislit won first place, Mikhail Nalimov won second place, and Stepan Verbitsky won third place, all from Elementary School No. 1 of Altai district. In the senior age category in the “Relay Race” nomination, students of R. Marsekov Secondary School from Ulan district, Rasul Kusainov and Merey Toktamysov took second place. In the creative category, the third places in the junior and senior age groups went to Agyzam Nurtileu and Ozatbekuly Akzhol, and in the Sumo category — Ramazan Manatbekov. All of them are students of O.Bokey Kazakh Secondary School of Glubokoe district.
Our winners became worthy representatives of the region at the international stage, held on October 28, 2024. Among the best in the senior age category at the international level, Merey Toktamysov and Rasul Kusainov from R. Marsekov Secondary School of Ulan district won second place in the “Relay Race” nomination. Artemy Nechayev and Ivan Gribenshchikov from School Lyceum No. 1 of Ridder town, as well as Kokenai Adilet from Secondary School No. 4 of Serebryansk town, Altai district, won in the nomination “Best Engineering Solution”. In the Scratch Programming category, Ilya Grislit from Primary School No. 1 of Altai town won second place.
The mentors of the teams, teachers Nartai B. Nurashov, Yuri B. Kotvitsky, Sergey A. Kozlov and Yaroslavna V. Andronova, made a huge contribution to the success of their students, guiding them on their path to engineering achievements.
The R:ED Fest is not just a festival, it is an opportunity for schoolchildren to shine and feel part of the global engineering community, and take a step towards future accomplishments. This festival inspires young people to strive for new knowledge, boldly master technology and shape the future with their own hands.
