Results of regional round of Republican Intellectual Competition of Young Historians “My Small Homeland”

On October 16, 2024, Daryn East Kazakhstan Scientific and Methodological Center for Gifted and Additional Education Development held the regional round of the Republican Intellectual Competition of Young Historians “My Small Homeland” for 9th to 10th graders. Sarsen Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University hosted the event.

The main goal of the competition was to identify talented students passionate about local history, showcase their creative abilities, foster civic engagement and develop a sense of patriotism among the younger generation, as well as to build knowledge among participants on the history of Kazakhstan and the history of the region, to cultivate national identity and pride in their small homeland.

The competition was attended by students of grades 9-10 of general education organizations of East Kazakhstan region - the winners of district and city rounds.

The competition included 2 rounds:

Round 1 - testing on the history of Kazakhstan.

Round 2 –  involved 4 nominations.

During the regional competition, the participants:

- presented video reports “History of My Small Homeland”, showcasing the history of their settlements;

- presented videos “Symbol of My Small Homeland”, proving their choice and uniqueness of the symbol of love for their small homeland;

- presented creative works (models) on the topic: “The Future of My Small Homeland”;

- wrote essays about individuals who worked in their native land, about their literary heritage, about heroic figures and about their contribution to the development of the small homeland.

The works of the participants were evaluated by the jury members – scientists of the universities of the region.

According to the results of the competition, 36 participants became prize-winners. First Degree Diplomas were awarded to 4 participants, Second Degree Diplomas -11 participants, Third Degree Diplomas - 21 participants.
