Solemn opening of Psychological and Pedagogical Correction Centre in Akzhar settlement of Tarbagatai district

On September 24, 2024, the solemn opening of Psychological and Pedagogical Correction Centre (PPCC) for children with special educational needs took place in Akzhar settlement of Tarbagatai district. The ceremony was attended by the head of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region I.A. Chernysheva, akim of the district D.Sh. Zhorgekbayev, the chair of the district maslikhat O.A. Kanagatov, the honorary citizen of Tarbagatai district T.A. Kalimazhan, head of Education Department of the district S.N. Dauytbayeva, veterans of education of the district, as well as children and their parents.

The primary mission of the PPCC is to help solve child development problems and prepare them for socialization in preschool organizations or general education schools. Now children with special educational needs aged 0 to 18 can receive corrective support there, and parents can get timely consultation from a team of qualified specialists. Teachers can work with more than 40 children per course.  

The material and technical base of the PPCC is fully adapted for children with special educational needs, making an important step towards ensuring the accessibility and quality of their education: a barrier-free environment with ramps, wide doorways and tactile signs has been created; it has equipped according to modern standards rooms of speech therapist, psychologist and defectologist, a Montessori classroom, a physical therapy room, rooms for musical and rhythmic classes, salt and sensory rooms, a room for a short-term stay group.

The main focus of the new centre is to implement educational programs and conduct individual/group sessions aimed at developing skills, correcting behavior and emotional support. Ultimately, this will help children learn in an inclusive education and socialize in society.

The services provided by the PPCC are free and available at the place of residence, greatly facilitating the process of seeking help.
