The opening of Psychological and Pedagogical Correction Centre took place on International Children's Day. This is another step towards providing accessible quality education for children with special educational needs.
The new Centre can accommodate up to 200 children for 1 course, cutting the waiting list in half.
For the first time in Kazakhstan, an Early Support Service for families with children at risk of developmental disorders or with existing developmental needs has been established at the Psychological and Pedagogical Correction Centre. This service is open to families with children aged 0 to 3, with the primary focus on parent education.
It should be noted that the Early Support Service is a joint initiative of the Dara Foundation and Chevron as part of the “Time of Opportunities” Project.
Chevron’s support has provided the Service with the necessary equipment and educational game materials.
Parents can fly to the Early Support Service for support if they notice their child is lagging behind in motor skills, speech development, shows aggression or excessive crying, has sleep and appetite problems, if parents have any concerns and want to better understand the peculiarities of their child's development.
Specialists of the Early Support Service will guide families on how to functionally develop their child during their early years. Specialists will choose services based on individual needs, covering areas such as exploring the world, the environment, communication, crawling or walking, self-care skills: eating, washing hands and much more.
Early support is a new addition to the current child support system, aimed at reducing the risk of developmental delays. Any family with concerns about their child's development can seek assistance from the specialists of Early Support Services. The specialists of the Early Support Service will pay individual attention to each child and help to understand the situation.
