Regional meeting “Applying artificial intelligence in education”

In compliance with the protocol instruction of Akim of the region, Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held a regional meeting entitled “Applying artificial intelligence in education” for teachers of natural sciences and mathematics disciplines.

The event was attended by methodologists of Methodological Rooms of Education Departments of districts and cities in charge of natural sciences and mathematics subjects, Chairs of Associations of subjects of natural sciences and mathematics, teachers of mathematics, computer science, physics, chemistry and biology of secondary schools of the region.

The speakers of the plenary part of the meeting:

- S.S. Adikanova, PhD, Dean of IT and Natural Sciences Higher School of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University, briefed on the key types and potentials, as well as the areas of using artificial intelligence technologies;

- R.K. Chettykbayev, Head of the Center for Competencies and Technology Transfer in Information Technology, a senior lecturer of Digital Technologies and Artificial Intelligence School at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, discussed innovative digital educational technologies, including both technological solutions (e-books, interactive boards, etc.) and changes in pedagogical practices;

- I.M. Uvaliyeva, PhD, Associate Professor at D. Serikbayev East Kazakhstan Technical University, shared the opportunities, challenges and ethical aspects of using artificial intelligence technology in the educational process.

The work of the meeting continued in sectional workshops focusing on individual disciplines.

During sectional workshops, teachers of natural and mathematical disciplines demonstrated master classes on artificial intelligence tools for lessons preparation, the use of PBL format in teaching, as well as applying artificial intelligence in education via Copilot, Quiz Wizart, etc.

Following the meeting, the participants in sectional workshops expressed their opinions adopting recommendations for further work.   

A total of 260 people participated in the meeting.
