Republican Challenge “My Favorite Book” as part of Reading School Project

On February 28, 2024, Republican Scientific and Pedagogical Library and Education Administration of Astana city organized a republican challenge “My Favorite Book” as part of Reading School Project in order to increase schoolchildren’s reading activity by engaging them in reading, as well as to boost the educational activity of school students in the country through the implementation of the concept of “9 events for 9 months”.

The Challenge was attended by representatives of education departments, methodological centers of 17 regions and 3 cities of republican significance of the Republic of Kazakhstan, as well as teachers and school students.

East Kazakhstan region took up the challenge with the proposal to read the work of Axeleu Seidimbek “Akkyz”. During the presentation of the Challenge from East Kazakhstan to Astana, the work of Alibek Asylbayevich Askarov “Koiga shapkan kara ayu” (Terryfying black bear) was showcased.

To conclude the challenge, a 10th grader of Zhambyl Regional Specialized Boarding School for Gifted Children of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region Rasul Idayatov recited a poem dedicated to the great teacher Kanipa Bitibayeva “Kazaktyn Kanipasy” and received gratitude from the organizers and participants.

Following the challenge results, on February 29, 2024, all district and city education departments of the region were informed and all educational organizations were tasked with reading the work of Akkyz by Akseleu Seidimbek during March.
