A consultative meeting was held on the project: “Promoting Quality Physical Education Policy in Kazakhstan”

Supporting youth sports is one of the key priorities of our state. So, East Kazakhstan region pays special attention to the systematic work of involving children and youth to physical education and sports.

On September 22, 2023, consultative meetings were held in Ust-Kamenogorsk city as part of the project: “Promoting Quality Physical Education Policy in Kazakhstan”.

The event was attended by the representatives of the National Commission on Women, Family and Demographic Policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan; members of Technical Working Group of the project; representatives of regional departments of the National Practical Center of Physical Culture; Education, Healthcare, Employment and Social Programs Administrations; representatives of Kazakhstan Branch of Professional Union of Workers of Education, Science and Higher Education; Representative of the Cluster Office of UNESCO in Almaty for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan, representatives of regional NGOs working in the field of protection of social and economic rights of women and children. 

During the meeting, the participants familiarized with the UNESCO’s methodology for the policy on quality physical education, and discussed measures to strengthen physical education as part of the development of the Quality Physical Education National Policy.

The program specialist on social and humanitarian sciences, the representative of the Cluster Office of UNESCO in Almaty for Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan and Uzbekistan M.T. Baibekov, the Head of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan Region I.A. Chernysheva welcomed the participants of the event.

An overview of the current practices in the field of physical education in Kazakhstan was presented by the head of the laboratory of the National Practical Center of Physical Culture A.M. Mamyrkhanova.

Regarding the issue of high-quality physical education, the guiding principles of policy/methodology were presented by the project expert/coordinator Aliya K. Ilyasova.

Following the event, the participants discussed the measures for the development of physical education within the framework of the development of the Quality Physical Education National Policy.
