Regional workshop “How to become a successful manager”

Headmaster is a key person in education determining the success of implementing the ongoing changes in education. This is an effective manager, just as today they have to perform a lot of managerial functions.  

On March 31, 2023, Shygys Regional Center of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held an online workshop “How to become a successful manager” for headmasters of the regional schools.

The key goal is to exchange the experience of the winners of Successful Manager Award, who have the abilities to overcome stereotypes and find non-traditional ways to solve the problems facing the school, professional competencies in the constructive interaction with the teaching staff.

What does it take to become a successful leader, bearing a huge burden and responsibility on your shoulders? This question was answered in their speeches by the winners of the regional competition “Successful Manager Award” - Alfiya S. Manapova, headmaster of Privolnoe Secondary School of Education Department of Ulan district of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, Markhabbat K. Karibayeva, headmaster of Belousovka Secondary School of Education Department of Glubokoe district of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, Gulchat Ch. Mustafina, headmaster of Zhanaaul Basic Secondary School of Education Department of Kurchum district of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region.

Gulfiya O. Berekpolova, a senior lecturer of the branch of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan of East Kazakhstan region, presented 7 skills of a successful manager based on the book by S. Covey “The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People”:

  1. Be proactive;
  2. Begin with the end in mind;
  3. Put first things first;
  4. Think Win-Win;
  5. Seek first to understand, then to be understood;
  6. Synergize (strive for creative mutually beneficial interaction);
  7. Sharpen the saw (keep improving).

During feedback, the participants shared their impressions.
