PRESS RELEASE of the Regional Olympiad for the 5th-6th graders in general subjects and the regional round of the Junior Olympiad in Science, Math and Social-Humanitarian Subjects among the 7th-8th graders

On March 14, 2023, in accordance with the action plan of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, Daryn East Kazakhstan Scientific and Methodological Center for Gifted and Additional Education Development holds a Regional Olympiad for the 5th-6th graders in general subjects and the regional round of the Republican Junior Olympiad in Science, Math and Social-Humanitarian Subjects among the 7th-8th graders (hereinafter referred to as the Olympiad).

The goal of the Olympiad is to stimulate school students' interest in an in-depth study of Science, Math and Social-Humanitarian Subjects, improving the system of preparation for higher-level Olympiads and create a reserve.  

Participants of the Olympiad: the 5th-6th, 7th-8th graders of secondary schools of the region and regional specialized schools for gifted children – the winners of district (city) rounds.

The Olympiad includes 12 subjects:

  1. The Kazakh language and literature
  2. The Russian language and literature
  3. The Kazakh language in schools with the Russian language of instruction
  4. The Russian language in schools with the Kazakh language of instruction
  5. English
  6. History of Kazakhstan
  7. Mathematics
  8. Physics
  9. Chemistry
  10. Biology
  11. Geography
  12. Computer science

The process of holding the Olympiad is provided by a video surveillance system for online viewing with broadcasting on the YouTube channel.  

The Olympiad will be attended by independent observers. The Olympiad will be held on the basis of the pivotal schools of cities and districts and in Ust-Kamenogorsk city on the basis of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.

A qualified jury consisting of scientists, professors, candidates of sciences, associate professors and educators of the leading universities of the region will assess the work of the participants and name the winners of the Olympiad.

The results of the Olympiad will be posted on the website of www.shygysdaryn.kz. We invite media representatives interested in covering the events to take part on March 14, 2023 from 10.00 am to 16.30 pm at the address: 34 30th Guards Division St., S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University.
