Currently, one of the most pressing issues is the training of qualified specialists for the labor market of the region, who are able to contribute to the development and modernization of production.
To address this issue, as part of implementing the republican project “Zhas Maman”, our region has opened Competence Centers equipped with modern equipment and technology on the basis of 4 leading colleges, in the following areas: Ust-Kamenogorsk Higher Polytechnic College in the direction of Energy, East-Kazakhstan Agricultural College in the direction of Agriculture, Ust-Kamenogorsk Construction College in the direction of Construction and Ridder College in the direction of Metallurgy.
Moreover, within the framework of cooperation with the largest enterprises of the region, together with the leading company in the development of natural resources KAZMINERALS, another Mining Competence Center was opened on the basis of Ust-Kamenogorsk Multidisciplinary Technological College.
The Competence Centers aim at creating innovative conditions for the training of highly qualified specialists those proficient in new methods and technologies, WorldSkills standard-based modern materials, enabling to prepare a competitive specialist in the labor market who knows the latest technologies.
For the effective use of the resources of the Competence Centers, on behalf of Regional Akim Danial K. Akhmetov, Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region organized the work to conduct practical training for students from other colleges.
Since the opening of the Competence Centers, 4,472 college students have received practical trainings. The practical training enables students from other colleges to be trained on modern equipment that meets WorldSkills international standards.
In the 2022-2023 academic year, on the basis of 5 Competence Centers, it is planned to conduct practical training for 900 college students of the region. Moreover, training camps are held on the basis of the Competence Centers to prepare participants for national and international WorldSkills Championships.
With the opening of the Competence Centers, the vocational education system of the region has taken a guideline towards maximum satisfaction of the demands of the labor market with high-quality specialists who acquire primary work skills, and then hone their professional skills in the Competence Centers on equipment similar to the production ones, enabling students to fully immerse themselves in the atmosphere of the production process, significantly facilitate the process of adaptation of college graduates in a professional environment.
Thus, training of relevant specialties will be concentrated in the Competence Centers and, as a result, improving the quality of educational services aimed at forming competitive personnel, increasing the level of employment of college graduates.
