Results of the regional round of the National School Debate Tournament among schoolchildren

Debates are a unique opportunity for children to demonstrate the ability to analyze, the skills of system analysis, and express their own position. There are 301 debate clubs in East Kazakhstan region under secondary and additional education institutions involving 4,869 schoolchildren.

On February 4, 2023, Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held the regional round of the National School Debate Tournament among the 9th-11th graders of general secondary education institutions. It took place on the basis of Secondary School No. 47 of Ust-Kamenogorsk city within the framework of the nationwide cultural and educational project “Rizashylyk - meiyrimdilik bulagy”, dedicated to Gratitude Day.

The goal of the Tournament is to instill the spiritual, moral, patriotic and civic qualities in schoolchildren, as well as to develop their oratory skills, the culture of constructive dialogue and dispute, the art of argumentation.

The tournament was attended by 36 teams of debating clubs of the region, involving more than 70 participants - the winners of the intra-school and district, city rounds.

The main topics for discussion at the tournament, chosen by schoolchildren: the stability and prosperity of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the personal participation of each citizen in the dynamic development of the country, the desire and ability to work for the good of the society, implementing creative and scientific potential of young people for the benefit of the native country, preserving traditions and enhancing cultural heritage of Kazakhstan.

Following the results of the tournament, the winners and prize-winners are:

Kazakh Language League:

I place - Erudition team, Regional Specialized Boarding School-Lyceum for Gifted Children, Ust-Kamenogorsk city;

II place - Karatai team, Rykov Secondary School, Katon-Karagai district;

III place - Gladiator team, Shokan Ualikhanov School-Lyceum No. 3, Ust-Kamenogorsk city;

Russian Language League:

I place - Mind palace team, Regional Specialized IT School-Lyceum, Ust-Kamenogorsk city;

II place - Amanat team, M. Auezov Secondary School, Zaisan district;

III place - Bolashak team, Shanyrak Multi-Profile School-Gymnasium, Ridder town.

English Language League:

I place - Alpha team, Regional Specialized Boarding School-Lyceum for Gifted Children, Ust-Kamenogorsk city;

II place - Bater flayer team, S. Lastayev Secondary School, Katon-Karagai district;

III place - Smart team, R. Marsekov Secondary School, Ulan district.

The winners of the Tournament were awarded cups, diplomas of I, II, III degrees.

All participants received certificates. The best school debaters - the winners of the tournament will represent East Kazakhstan region at the Republican round of the National School Debate Tournament, to be held on February 16-17, 2023 in Astana city.
