Outcomes of regional workshop “Efforts to create conditions for identification, development and support of gifted schoolchildren of the region and additional education”
On October 7, 2022, Daryn East Kazakhstan Scientific and Methodological Center for Gifted and Additional Education Development held a regional workshop called “Efforts to create conditions for identification, development and support of gifted schoolchildren of the region and additional education”. It took place in Daryn Recreation Centre in Gornaya Ulbinka, according to the action plan of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region.
The workshop was attended by methodologists of City (District) Education Departments, coordinating the work on identifying and developing the giftedness of schoolchildren, additional education, and deputy headmasters of regional educational institutions for gifted children.
During the workshop, optimal conditions were created for a constructive dialogue, exchange of experience and opinions.
The workshop included 2 sections: Working with Gifted Children and Additional Education.
The methodologists of the Daryn Center briefed on the upcoming changes in the format of holding competitions and Olympiads for 2023, familiarized the participants with the main areas of work of additional education institutions, summed up the participation of schoolchildren of the region in Republican, International Intellectual Olympiads, Scientific Competitions and Creative Competitions over the past school year.
The coordinators of the districts with the best results summarized the experience of preparing schoolchildren for Olympiads of various levels, and also made recommendations to increase the coverage of school children with additional education and extracurricular activities.
The participants had the opportunity to discuss urgent problems, as well as issues of further work with gifted children. The participants of the event expressed their opinions on the need to consistently continue the work to create conditions for the identification and development of gifted schoolchildren in East Kazakhstan region, giving this work a comprehensive and systemic character.
To unite all the participants of the workshop, they organized a psychological training, a master class in applied art, team building, where each of the participants was able to complete a team quest, showing cohesion skills, and received a positive emotional charge.
Following the workshop, G.B. Rakhimzhanova, Director of Daryn East Kazakhstan Scientific and Methodological Center for Gifted and Additional Education Development, addressed the participants with words of gratitude for the work done and awarded Letters of Thanks to the best coordinators of the region for working with gifted children and additional education who have achieved success in the 2021-2022 school year.
At the end of the regional workshop, all participants received Certificates.
