PRESS RELEASE of “1st Oskemen Hackathon

We are facing the world where computers are able to perform any creative, research, mental labour. In the context of digitalization, the approach to programming as a component of digital literacy is rapidly changing.

Literacy is about the level of professional knowledge and skills in a certain area and the ability to apply them in practice: to master the tools of subject areas such as information technology, mathematics and design to create projects.

Shygys Regional Center of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region, within the framework of the Year of Children, jointly with the author of IT-Club Birzhan B. Auezov and school students of BILIM INNOVATION East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Lyceum for Gifted Children of Ust-Kamenogorsk city of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region is holding the first IT Hackathon called “1-st Oskemen Hackathon” for the 10th and 11th graders of secondary schools of Ust-Kamenogorsk city.

The goal is to popularize the IT sector among school students of Ust-Kamenogorsk city. Tasks:

1) pitching training;

2) developing sites or applications on a predetermined topic (teamwork);

3) presentation of projects.

Pitching will be conducted by a student of Nazarbayev University, who had been trained at Google, Yandex - Alisher Erkimbekov.

IT hackathon is taking place on 14-15 May, 2022 at Zerek Center in Ust-Kamenogorsk city among students of grades 10-11.

Time - 05/14/2022 from 18.00 pm to 20.00 pm; 05/15/2022 from 9.00am to 20.00pm.
