Results of Regional Zhakul Kushikuly Chemistry and Biology Olympiad

On April 7-8, 2022, Daryn Scientific and Methodological Center for Gifted and Additional Education Development of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held a Regional Zhakul Kushikuly Chemistry and Biology Olympiad among school children of secondary schools of the region.

The sponsor of the Olympiad is Askar Zhakulin Charitable Fund founded by the grandson of Zhakul Kushikuly.

1. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University hosted the Olympiad. It was held in order to increase the interest of students in learning Chemistry and Biology, identifying gifted and talented students, supporting intellectual development and professional orientation among schoolchildren.

About 200 students of grades 9-11 took part in the Olympiad - the winners of the district (city) rounds.

The Olympiad included two rounds: theoretical and practical.

Students showed theoretical knowledge and skills in solving problems in Biology and Chemistry, conducted virtual experiments.

According to the results of two rounds of the Olympiad, 18 students were awarded First Degree Diplomas; Second Degree Diplomas – 24 students; Third Degree Diplomas - 48 students.

The winners were awarded diplomas and cash certificates.

The Rector of S. Amanzholov East Kazakhstan University M. Tolegen presented 2 grants for a 4-year study at the University to 11th graders Baurzhankyzy Balzhan, a student of Akmektep Secondary School of Tarbagatai district in Chemistry and Veronika Belova, a student of Zubov Secondary School of Altai district in Biology.
