Master Class “Improving functional literacy of school students via communication skills development”

On March 25, 2022, Shygys Regional Center of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region organized a master class for teachers of Kazakh language and literature of Russian grades of Ridder town and Shemonaikha district entitled “Improving functional literacy of school students via communication skills development”.

The speakers of the workshop who shared their experiences were:

- Mahabbat Zh. Burambayeva, a teacher of Kazakh language and literature of School-Gymnasium No. 12 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region on the topic “Improving functional literacy of school students via listening and reading skills development”;

- Ainur A. Berkutova, a teacher of Kazakh language and literature of School-Gymnasium No. 10 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region on the topic “Improving functional literacy of school students via speaking and writing skills development”;

- Bakytzhan B. Bayanbayev, a teacher of Kazakh language and literature of School-Gymnasium No. 2 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region on the topic “School students’ functional literacy development using ICT”;

- Bek Sh. Mukanov, a teacher of Kazakh language and literature of Secondary School No. 27 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region on the topic “Language orientation”.

As part of the master class, the speakers presented the ways to shape school students' communication skills through the development of functional literacy, provided methodological assistance, exchanged experience on methods of teaching Kazakh language and literature with Russian language of instruction.

The participants noted the relevance and practical significance of the topic of the workshop and received methodological assistance to use in practice.

The event was attended by 25 teachers of Ridder town, 30 teachers of Shemonaikha district.
