A team leader, a school leader, a life leader

A team leader, a school leader, a life leader

NIS held the Forum of Leaders of Student Government.

For two days, well-known professionals from various fields, as well as graduates of the Intellectual Schools participated in the Forum. Doctor of Psychology, founder of the educational platform SKILLFOLIO Victoria Shimanskaya joined the Forum from Moscow, with whom the Intellectual Schools have been cooperating successfully for a long time. At the online workshop, forum participants analyzed practices and skills for developing personal and team effectiveness.

Kudaibergen Dauletkerey, who finished Taldykorgan NIS in 2015, joined the Forum from Korea. Kudaibergen's motivational speech was continued by Aigerim Zholmyrza, a graduate of Kyzylorda Intellectual School in 2015, who works at NU as a manager of the Higher School of Economics. Aigerim, earned a master's degree from the University of Hungary, inspired the Presidents to actively volunteer activities in European countries. As a graduate of NIS, where public service is one of the main aspects of school government, she considers environmental care to be her mission.

Delegates welcomed Nurpeis Baimukhan, a student of New York University in Abu Dhabi. The graduate and the First President of the Moscow Intellectual School of International Baccalaureate (IB) spoke on the topic “What is Leadership?”:

- First of all, be leaders in your life, set big, seemingly unattainable goals. And when you achieve them, it will elevate you in your own eyes so much that you want to go even further. Victory over oneself is the main thing that leads a leader through life.

The forum delegates switched to Germany, from where a first-year student of the University of Bonn, a graduate of the Almaty NIS in Physics and Mathematics, a multiple winner of International Physics Olympiads Asylbek Olzhabayev joined the Forum from Abu Dhabi. Asylbek devoted his speech to the theme of patriotism and family values.

At the discussion panels, the leaders made presentations on the key issue – “What is the role of student government in the patriotic, intellectual, physical, multicultural development of NIS students?”. The leader of each Intellectual School presented exclusive projects in different areas.

The phenomenon of the Independence Generation, attitudes towards different cultural trends, priority professions of the 21st century, free niches in global and Kazakhstan business, successful and failed startups, innovative global trends - these and other topics were presented at a special session of the Forum by the Marketing Director of KPMG Central Asia, visiting Professor of George Washington University Daniyar Kosnazarov. In a face to face talk, the speaker shared his life hacks on building a life trajectory:

– Be ambitious, look wider and don't be afraid of making significant changes in your life. This is one of the main qualities of a leader.

“Is artificial intelligence popular in Korean medical science?” – a relevant meeting on modern trends in the global medicine was held with top managers of the Kazakh-Korean clinic “Medical Partners Korea Clinic” Kim Kwangbum, Kim Dae-Young and Doctor of Medical Sciences Galymzhan Togizbayev. The special session of the Forum gave NIS Presidents the opportunity to get useful guidance in choosing a future profession, especially in the Medical and Chemical-Biological fields.

The thematic session “Formula of my success” brought together the best students of two Almaty NIS – the winners of International Olympiads and Scientific Competitions. The speakers were unanimous that in order to achieve success one must go beyond the school curriculum; be in constant search; it is never too late to start participating in the Olympiads; always believe in yourself.

As part of the Leaders' Forum, it has become a tradition to hold the exhibition “New Ideas for Us and the Future”, where, as a rule, new projects, promotions and events worthy to be posted on the NIS network are introduced.

The Synergy of Leadership training, that was conducted by psychologists of Almaty NIS, helped the delegates get to know each other better and think again about the role of a school leader, as well as get acquainted with new tools in building interpersonal and social relationships, with the art of negotiating, with teamwork for the sake of one common goal. In conclusion, each team demonstrated their understanding of the leader through posters.

- The Leaders’ Forum was incredible. The organizers arranged many sessions for us aimed at developing leadership qualities and strengthening relations between representatives of different schools. I have benefited most from my interactions with the Presidents of other schools. It was thanks to them that a completely different vision of school life appeared in front of me. The organization was at a very high level, I thank those who held the Forum. And to the students of our school I can say one thing - expect improvements! - says the President of the NIS of Ust-Kamenogorsk city Erasyl Gaziz.

Deputy Director of the Development Department of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools Aida Agadil, congratulating the delegates on the successful holding of the Forum, invited the Presidents to continue cooperation between schools in an online format.

The NIS of Turkestan city was presented for the first time in Almaty - the youngest in the network of Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools.
