Regional online workshop “Innovative methods and techniques to develop reading literacy skills”

Reading literacy is one of the types of functional literacy of schoolchildren. The result of the teacher's work is to develop the student's capacities for deeply understanding the subject, ensuring the effective use of the knowledge gained in extracurricular activities, in any life situation.   

On November 5, 2021, Shygys Regional Center of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region held an online workshop for teachers of Russian language and literature of educational institutions of the region on the topic “Effective methods and techniques to develop reading literacy skills.” It took place as part of implementing the plan for the autumn vacation school, providing effective ways to improve reading literacy.

The following teachers of Comprehensive School No. 47 of Education Department of Ust-Kamenogorsk city showed master classes on how to develop reading literacy skills:

Nazigul A. Sergaliyeva, a teacher of Russian language and literature, teacher-researcher;

Zina S. Zhamankulova, a teacher of Russian language and literature of the first category;

Bekzat Z. Meshelova, a teacher of Kazakh language and literature of the highest category;

Gulzhanat K. Abakasheva, a teacher of Russian language and literature, teacher-moderator;

Aydin K. Beisekenov, a teacher of Russian language and literature, teacher-researcher;

Marzhangul S. Bazarova, an English teacher, expert teacher.

Deputy headmaster for Academic Affairs Dana B. Zhienbayeva noted that specific goals and objectives are outlined when organizing methodological work at school through a methodological study of teachers' activities.

In their presentations, the speakers of the workshop uncovered the topic of effective use of educational Internet resources, video materials, the use of methods and techniques with straight and scattered texts for the development of language skills.

In the reflective part, the participants of the event noted the relevance of the workshop and expressed their gratitude.
