THE COMMITTEE FOR QUALITY ASSURANCE IN EDUCATION AND SCIENCE LAUNCHES HOTLINES FOR CITIZENS’ COMPLAINTS

The Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan is launching hotlines for citizens' complaints. Since a new school year began in September, education-related issues in the country are among crucial for 3.6 million of schoolchildren, about 400,000 teachers, almost 600,000 students and more than 35,000 lecturers. By calling hotlines Kazakhstanis are able to inform officials of the Committee and Territorial Departments about various problems.

These can be issues of involving teachers in unusual functions, problems referred to school toilets, video surveillance cameras, alarming buttons, other elements of security systems, dormitories, and so on.

Moreover, parents, teachers and simply caring people will be able to send photo and video materials via the WhatsApp mobile application at 8-705-206-59-32 about the lack of conformity with the adopted requirements of security systems, school restrooms, conditions in dormitories. School-related issues will be transmitted to local executive agencies, since the legislative functions of financing, construction, repair work, creating the necessary conditions, including sanitary ones, are under the jurisdiction of akimats. At the same time, all these complaints will be under the control of the Committee and its territorial departments until the problem solving.

“Currently, most people use smartphones with photo and video recording functions. Citizens who care for comfortable and safe learning conditions for children, including those referred to basic utilities and security systems, are already posting photos and videos, informing us of various violations. We take control of citizens' complaints and thank all for their active participation in ensuring the safety of children. If others follow this example, informing us about the non-compliance facts, we will send them to the akimats, which are in charge of solving the problems, for example, related to video cameras or sanitary facilities in schools, and we will control problem-solving process,” said the Chair of the Committee for Quality Assurance in Education and Science Gulzat Kobenova.

It’s worth noting that since the beginning of this school year, about 70 complaints from citizens have been received by the Committee. Following consideration of all complaints, the necessary measures were taken.

Earlier, the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan sent letters to the akimats of a number of regions to take appropriate measures with regard to the officials who had not fulfilled school instructions. We are talking about solving problems related to restrooms, providing video surveillance cameras, alarming buttons and other elements of security systems.
