Regional online training for students of educational institutions “Mediation as a way for peace and harmony”

Due to the School Mediation Services, educational institutions now have a tool that enables constructively to resolve disputes and get out of conflict situations “without significant losses”.

School Mediation helps cultivate communication skills, shape constructive behavior, prevent and resolve conflicts between all participants of the educational process: learners, teachers, parents. It allows the school and family to treat each other as partners, joining forces to ensure the child's well-being and safety.

A training on the topic “School Mediation” took place on April 7, 2021 with learners of schools No. 3, 10, 16 of Ust-Kamenogorsk city, No. 6, 28, 11 of Semey city, of Ridder town and Zharma, Beskaragai, Kokpeky districts.

The training was conducted by the Head of the NGO “Alternative” East Kazakhstan Center for Mediation and Law”, professional mediator, trainer of mediators A.A. Kalenova. Aksana Kalenova made a presentation on the structure of the School Mediation Service, how to conduct mediation, gave an explanation of the conflict concept, ways to resolve it. She summed up that the ongoing joint work will lead to a decrease in aggression and conflicts in schools, the use of mediation techniques will help build the negotiation process so that the parties to the conflict “see in a different light” and come to a mutually beneficial agreement.
