On April 1, 2021, a ZOOM meeting was held with the heads of educational institutions of the TVE system of East Kazakhstan region. It considered current issues of an educational nature. We are alarmed by the increased frequency of suicides, especially among college students, as well as malefaction and accidents.

Educational work in colleges is carried out in accordance with the Comprehensive Education Program in educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan. All colleges held parent meetings on the topic “Suicide Prevention among Adolescents.”

Class hours were held on the topics “Life is a priceless gift”, “Don't break your destiny”, “How to behave in a stressful situation”, “There are no hopeless situations”.

But, the analysis carried out by Technical and Vocational Education Department shows that, 7 facts of suicidal behavior were registered for the period from January 1, 2021 – March 30, 2021, of which 3 suicidal deaths and 4 attempts. (for the same period of 2020, 4 attempts were recorded, 1 commitееd suicide).  

All colleges of the region have Councils on Juvenile Malefaction Prevention.  Students those with a large number of unexcused absences, unsatisfactory grades are invited to the meetings, cases of violation of articles of the Administrative and Criminal Codes are considered as well.

Despite this fact, 9 crimes were committed during 3 months of 2021.

Recently, several accidents occurred with female students, as well as with fatal consequences.

The meeting recommended to constantly carry out explanatory measures to prevent offenses. To follow safety regulations. To strengthen efforts to identify and prevent suicide attempts. To constantly communicate with parents.
