Launching the project “READING SCHOOL”

Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region developed a Comprehensive Plan for Learners’ Reading Literacy Development as part of the project “Reading School” for 2020-2025 in order to perform the instructions given by Head of State K.J. Tokayev at a regular meeting of the National Council of Public Trust on increasing the role of reading in education of the younger generation.

In his speech, the Head of State stressed that interest in reading, knowledge of the world around us through books should be formed starting from school. As part of the implementation of this plan, a single day of the regional project “READING SCHOOL”, dedicated to the Day of the First President, was held online on November 30, 2020, in all educational institutions. At the opening of the project, the Head of Education Administration Sairangul Zhumadilova welcomed the participants.

 During the event, they organized virtual exhibitions of books about the First President, Elbasy, Leader of the Nation N.A. Nazarbayev, video challenge “Reading as best teaching!” and Tavriya Secondary School of Ulan district shared its experience in cultivating students' interest in the school library.  

A workshop - presentation of “Reading Hour” project was held online for school librarians based on the experience of BILIM-INNOVATION Lyceums of Ust-Kamenogorsk and Semey cities on using the Kitapp application.

Speakers of the workshop were Muratova E.K., Deputy Principal for Teaching Affairs and Almaganbetov Zh.S., Deputy Principal for Educational Work, East Kazakhstan Regional Specialized Lyceum for Gifted Children BILIM-INNOVATION, Ust-Kamenogorsk city. More than 200 librarians of educational institutions of the region took part in the workshop.

Following the workshop, participants asked questions and gave feedbacks. The project was live on Facebook, Instagram and the official website of Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region.
