A pilot project aimed at teaching school students artificial intelligence and game development is currently being implemented in 7 schools across East Kazakhstan region.
Following the instruction of the Head of State, a large-scale educational online platform aimed at boosting digital competencies among schoolchildren of the Republic of Kazakhstan was launched through the Astana Hub International Technopark. Simultaneously, a pilot project was launched to train 300 teachers in Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Game Development.
Among the first to join the project were seven educational organizations of East Kazakhstan region, with their teachers successfully completed distance learning via the platform edu.astanahub.com. Since January 2025, they have been delivering courses for 10th graders. To date, the program has reached 319 schoolchildren, including 143 ones in AI, and 176 in game development.
To ensure the stability and systematic implementation of digital disciplines, the courses “Introduction to Artificial Intelligence and Big Data” and “Fundamentals of Game Development” were officially added to the schools’ working curricula with additional hours of the variable component.
These interdisciplinary courses incorporated elements of programming, digital design, animation, user psychology, project management, and the basics of entrepreneurship. This approach enabled school students not only to grasp the technologies, but also to cultivate critical and creative thinking, as well as teamwork skills.
