ABOUT SACRED EAST PROJECT

During this summer holidays, Education Administration of East Kazakhstan region is implementing SACRED EAST Project in the region.

The project targets students of grades 7-8 of general education organizations of East Kazakhstan region.

The project includes two rounds:

Round 1 - intellectual competition “Sacred East”.

Round 2 - educational and exploratory tours across East Kazakhstan region.

The first round was held online on April 2, 2025 and was open to all school students from schools of districts and cities. A total of 6,144 students of grades 7-8 participated in this round.

The participants were tested via an interactive testing system covering four general education subjects: History of Kazakhstan, Geography, Biology, Literature, taking into account the regional component to promote local awareness.

The top 200 winners of the competition will participate in educational-exploratory tours in 4 directions to be held in June, 2025: Berel (Katon-Karagai district), Kiyn-Kerish (Kurchum district), Gornaya Ulbinka – Ridder, Sibe Lakes-Marin Cliff. 

The program of educational-exploratory tours includes excursions, master classes and practical training on the basics of tourism, as well as the activities exploring traditions, culture and heritage of the native land.

The participants of educational-exploratory tours will be accompanied by a team of organizers, tour guides, professional tourism instructors, teachers, medical workers, and police officers.

The children will have a unique opportunity to visit museums, nature reserves, cultural and historical monuments, sacred sites, natural and national parks across East Kazakhstan region.
