There are 6 psychological, medical and pedagogical consultation units (hereinafter referred to as PMPCU) in the region in Ayagoz town, Altai town, Ust-Kamenogorsk city, Semey city, Shemonaikha town, Aksuat settlement of Tarbagatai district.
PMPCUs are one of the types of special educational institutions aiming at timely identification of children, including those of tender age with various developmental disabilities, who need special assistance. There are 15939 children with special educational needs registered by PMPCUs.
16 psychological and special education units (Ayagoz, Beskaragai, Borodulikha, Glubokoe, Zharma, Zaisan, Katon-Karagai, Kokpekty, Kurchum, Tarbagatai, Ulan, Urjar, Shemonaikha districts, Ust-Kamenogorsk city, Semey city, Ridder town) attended by 789 children and Rehabilitation Center for Children with Special Educational Needs attended by 195 children ensure rehabilitation and social adaptation of children of this category.
