Time of floods and floods

Spring floods are the most alarming time not only for rescuers, but mainly for the population. The Altai District Emergency Situations Department warns you to be careful during floods and floods. Keep an eye on the water level in bodies of water located in the immediate vicinity of your home. In your private backyards, carry out work on the unhindered passage of flood waters:- clear the nearest streams, ditches, from debris and ice;- make drainage grooves in your yard;- prepare the material at hand for embanking the territory of the house (bags, soil, sand, clay).Follow the information in the media carefully.

Prepare a bag or backpack with essentials, a small supply of food and drinking water. Be sure to put a package with documents and money, a first-aid kit, as well as a spare set of warm outerwear and shoes. Move valuables, food supplies from cellars to the attic or unheated area.

If the flood catches you suddenly:- The main thing is to get out of the water and try not to get into the rushing stream.- Find an elevated place nearby (a hill, a tall strong tree, an attic of a house), and try to get over it so that the rushing stream of water does not wash you away.- Report your location to the Emergency Situations Directorate by cell phone or send a distress signal with any available means (bright cloth, fire, sound signal). In an open, safe place:- Light a fire, make a shelter.- Remember you can't go home. It could cost your life! Wait for evacuation.

In case of detecting an increase in the water level, immediately inform by phone 3-22-02, 6-14-77, 112 or by phone of local executive bodies.   Department of Emergency Situations of Altai region
