Altai district exceeded the plan for the delivery of immune plasma

We are ahead, but the work continues
Altai district exceeded the plan for the delivery of immune plasma

Vladimir Korobkin, the chief doctor of the inter-district hospital of the Altai city, told local media correspondents at a regular press conference.

As explained by the chief physician of Altai, when donating plasma, the donor's blood is collected in a special device, where it is divided into components. Plasma is separated from blood components: red blood cells, white blood cells, and platelets. After which the platelets are returned to the human body. Thus, one to three doses of plasma can be obtained from a single donor. The time frame for plasma delivery is very important: no later than 14 days after the patient's recovery. There are also age restrictions on donation: no younger than 18 and no older than 60 years. Even the weight of the donor is important - not less than 50 kilograms.

As Vladimir Korobkin further explained :

- despite the difficulties in donating immune plasma, our district is actively working in this direction. During this campaign, 226 people underwent a full examination for possible donation, 71 donors of the Altai region donated blood for immune plasma and provided medicine with 205 doses of immune plasma. This is significantly more than the planned area. But, despite the completion of the task, this work continues, and everyone who wants to become a plasma donor is still waiting.

Residents of Serebryansk and the village of Novaya Bukhtarma also took part in the promotion of the therapeutic effect of immune plasma in the treatment of patients with coronavirus. Coherence and purposefulness in the actions of doctors, understanding and kindness of the residents of our region, activity and perseverance of the district administration, cities and towns of the region contributed to the fact that the district took the fourth place in the rating of immune plasma delivery.
