Very often, we hear that the fire truck arrived without water. Such statements form a negative opinion about the fire service as a whole. At the first stage of fire extinguishing, when there is a maximum development of the fire, depending on the combustible material and its quantity, a huge mass of thermal energy is released and the speed of fire propagation is rapidly increasing. To extinguish, who arrived by fire departments is mainly used water. From the moment the first barrel is put out to the moment of localization, the number of fire barrels should grow, and therefore, a lot of water is spent on extinguishing. The volume of water transported by fire trucks is not unlimited. For example, the capacity of the fire truck AC-40 (130)63B, brand ZIL -130 is equal to 2350 liters. When feeding one water barrel RSK-50 (barrel B) is enough for - 14 minutes, feeding 2 water barrels "B" - 7 minutes, feeding three water barrels "B" - 3 minutes. Since this type of fire barrels has an average water consumption of 222 liters per minute. Thus, the work of fire equipment is carried out in a very short period of time, after which it is necessary to take water from a fire hydrant or reservoir. It is worth noting that all fire trucks that are in combat calculation in the boxes are filled with water tanks. From the history of the development of fire protection on the Eurasian continent, there are facts that before 1917 in Russia, in large cities, fires were extinguished by horse-drawn passages, on which large piston pumps made of wooden barrels were located. In order that the horses would not get tired, the water supply on the horse tracks was not tinkered with, but was bought at the scene of the fire from the population, and the first barrels of water were always more expensive and cost three rubles and the subsequent ones cost a penny. After 1917, with the development of the automobile industry on the first trucks "three-line", water for extinguishing was also not transported, since the engine power was not enough to transfer any significant cargo. Obviously, it was from those times that the population had a firm belief that firefighters come to a fire without water.
